Powered by advanced HPBC 2.0 architecture, the new generation module reaches 25.2% efficiency, delivering over EUR 67,430 in additional annual revenue per 10 hectares compared to conventional non-BC technologies.

LONGi, a global leader in green energy technology, has officially announced the launch of its Hi-MO 9 Prime series at Intersolar Europe 2026. Representing the latest evolution of LONGi’s premier back contact (BC) module platform, the Hi-MO 9 Prime is engineered specifically for utility-scale solar projects where land efficiency, long-term reliability, and lifecycle returns are critical. Delivering a massive mass-production module power of up to 680 W and an efficiency of up to 25.2%, the series sets a new performance benchmark for the global solar industry. Attendees and media representatives can experience the new technology firsthand at the LONGi Booth: hall A2, stand 170.

HPBC 2.0: the next frontier in mass-production efficiency

Built on LONGi’s advanced HPBC 2.0 (Hybrid Passivated Back Contact) cell architecture, the Hi-MO 9 Prime marks another significant technological leap forward for the flagship Hi-MO 9 family. Following the successful 2025 rollout of the 670 W version, the Prime series optimizes the platform’s power density and structural layout. By placing all electrical contacts on the rear of the cell, the front surface remains entirely unobstructed, maximizing light absorption and elevating long-term value for global large-scale deployments.

Maximizing yield in land-constrained European markets

As solar deployment accelerates across Europe, developers increasingly face tighter constraints regarding land availability, strict environmental regulations, and grid capacity limitations. To counter these challenges, modern project layouts feature a higher ground coverage ratio (GCR) to maximize installed capacity per hectare. However, tightly packed rows naturally amplify the risks of inter-row shading, uneven irradiation, and subsequent performance drop-offs.

The Hi-MO 9 Prime is explicitly engineered to address these spatial dilemmas directly. Maintaining the proven most reliable utility-scale form factor of 2382 × 1134 × 30 mm, it enables a substantially higher installed capacity per unit area compared with mainstream non-BC modules.

In LONGi’s representative high-GCR project modelling, the Hi-MO 9 Prime can increase total installed capacity by 4.62% under identical land area and layout conditions. Consider a 10-hectare project scenario in the United Kingdom, in the Midlands, designed with a 50% ground coverage ratio:

  • Mainstream non-BC modules achieve 12 MW of installed capacity.
  • Hi-MO 9 Prime achieves 12.56 MW of installed capacity on the exact same plot.

This spatial optimization creates a modelled annual energy yield gain of approximately 648.4 MWh, translating directly into more than EUR 67,430 in additional annual revenue for asset owners.

Advanced shading mitigation for complex operating environments

Beyond delivering higher baseline power, the Hi-MO 9 Prime delivers superior partial shading tolerance to protect those revenue streams. Its highly parallel BC cell structure helps drastically reduce electrical losses caused by localized shading from row-to-row obstructions, dust, fallen leaves, or other temporary objects.

When a single cell is shaded, the Hi-MO 9 Prime can reduce power loss by more than 70% compared with conventional non-BC modules. This supports far more stable, predictable energy generation in high-GCR configurations and complex, real-world operating environments.

STAC Technology: structural reliability built for 30-year lifecycles

Reliability is another core pillar of the Hi-MO 9 Prime design. The module incorporates LONGi’s proprietary Selective Temperature Alloy Connection (STAC) technology, which minimizes localized thermal stress during manufacturing and significantly improves long-term, cell-level stability. Its sustainable, lead-free material design also enhances resistance against electrode corrosion, while the specialized BC cell interconnection structure helps disperse current concentration to reduce hotspot-related risks.

For utility-scale projects, this level of engineering reliability is essential to protecting 30-year asset value. Over time, traditional risks like hotspots, micro-cracks, and cell-level stress gradually increase module replacement rates, spike O&M costs, and introduce severe revenue uncertainty. The Hi-MO 9 Prime is specifically designed to lower these lifecycle risks, providing stronger long-term operational confidence for developers, investors, and asset owners alike.

Industry-leading guarantees to safeguard capital investments

According to the product datasheet, the Hi-MO 9 Prime offers an ultra-low first-year power degradation of less than 1%, and a maximum 0.35% annual linear degradation from year two to year 30. This ensures the asset retains an exceptional 88.85% of its original power output at the 30-year mark. The product is backed by a robust 12-year warranty for materials and processing and a comprehensive 30-year warranty for extra linear power output.

To ensure stable performance across demanding global environments, the module combines high power density with a ruggedized mechanical build:

  • Dual 2.0 mm heat-strengthened glass and an anodized aluminum alloy frame.
  • IP68-rated junction box and an optimized 132-cell layout.
  • Mechanical load capacity: supports a front-side maximum static loading of 5,400 Pa and a rear-side maximum static loading of 2,400 Pa.
  • Hail resilience: successfully passed a 25 mm hailstone impact test at 23 m/s.
  • Key ratings: 0%-3% positive power tolerance, 75% ±5% bifaciality, and a highly stable Pmax temperature coefficient of -0.260% per °C.

With the introduction of the Hi-MO 9 Prime, LONGi further strengthens the Hi-MO 9 product family, successfully expanding the core application value of BC technology from high-efficiency power generation to robust, multi-decade asset protection.
