Croatia-based battery storage developer AdriaFlex has invited independent power producers, utilities, and strategic investors to partner on its portfolio of three utility-scale standalone battery projects, totalling 170 MW. Expressions of interest, either for individual projects or the entire portfolio, are due by November 13.

AdriaFlex proposes joint project development until the ready-to-build stage, targeted for the final quarter of 2028. After that, the company may continue to support its partners through the procurement and financing phases.

Bids are welcome for the full portfolio or for individual projects, according to a press release from AdriaFlex.

Land rights have been secured for all sites, and local spatial plans allow battery storage at each location. AdriaFlex added that red-flag analyses have been completed, with no major constraints identified.

AdriaFlex’s projects come amid growing flexibility needs in Croatia

The call comes amid growing demand for flexibility in Croatia, where wind and solar already account for 44% of total installed capacity, while grid-scale battery storage remains at a very early stage, AdriaFlex stated, citing data from Croatia’s renewable energy industry association, OIEH. The company also noted that the country recorded around 220 hours of negative electricity prices in the first half of 2026.

“Croatia is adding wind and solar faster than it is adding the flexibility to manage them, and that gap is the opportunity,” said Santiago Mompó, Co-Founder & Director of AdriaFlex.

AdriaFlex is looking for partners who want an early entry into Croatia’s energy storage market

“Our projects already have land secured and grid routes identified. We’re looking for partners who want an early entry into Croatian storage, with a local team that handles permitting and grid approval and stays alongside them into procurement and financing,” he stressed.

In addition to the portfolio covered by the call, AdriaFlex is developing an early-stage BESS pipeline of around 200 MW, according to the press release from the Zadar-based company.

The window to submit expressions of interest runs from November 2 to 13, 2026, and will be followed by an invitation to submit non-binding offers. A teaser is available on request, and site-level information will be shared through a virtual data room after an NDA is signed.
