Turkish company Çalık Renewables has delivered the first electricity to the grid from its wind power plant Zatriq, also known as Zatric. The new facility is the fourth of its kind in Kosovo*.
Backed by a power purchase agreement (PPA), the Zatriq wind park has began generating power. It is a milestone toward full commercial operation, said Çalık Renewables, part of Turkey-based Çalık Enerji and Çalık Holding.
The new facility in Kosovo* has an operational capacity of 70 MW. It consists of twelve GE Vernova turbines of 6.1 MW in nameplate terms. Their rotor diameter is 158 meters. Construction started last year.
The wind park is also known as Zatric. It was named after the adjacent village of Zatriq, or Zatrić in Serbian language, in the municipality of Rahovec (Orahovac). The altitude of the turbine sites is 900 to
1,000 meters above sea level.
Eurokos kept 25% of project
Eurokos Holding’s subsidiary EV Wind Park developed the project. It has sold 75% to Çalık Renewables, which was spun off in 2024.
The financing package of EUR 112 million was closed in partnership with Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen (Helaba), Deutsche Bank, Japan’s Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI), and GE Vernova, the Turkish company said.
It is the conglomerate’s first renewable energy investment outside of its home market and the first wind project supported by Swiss Export Risk Insurance (SERV).
The company owns two wind farms in Turkey, of 73 MW overall, and two projects in Poland for a combined 170 MW.
Estimated annual output is 185 GWh
A 110 kV overhead transmission line is connecting the facility with the power network. Estimated annual output is 185 GWh, equivalent to the electricity needs of 45,000 households.
The project is divided into two equal parts – EV Wind Park Zatric 1 and EV Wind Park Zatric 2. They recently received a license from the Energy Regulatory Office (ERO).
The wind potential at the location is one of the highest in Kosovo*, which hosts just three other wind power facilities: Selac, also known as Bajgora (104.1 MW), Kitka (32.4 MW) and Golesh (1.35 MW).
Çalik Holding and Turkish company Limak together control distribution system operator KEDS and power supplier KESCO.
