Chinese green technology company Envision has commissioned the world’s largest single-site battery energy storage system, the 4 GWh Envision Jingyi Chagan Hada, marking the completion and grid connection of its 12.8 GWh energy storage cluster in China’s northern region of Inner Mongolia.

The standalone 4 GWh battery system passed grid verification at rated power through three-charge, three-discharge tests in a single attempt, according to an announcement from Envision.

Its 12.8 GWh battery energy storage cluster will be fully integrated into the electricity spot market, pv magazine reported.

The facility is equipped with Envision’s proprietary AI-driven system, which enables a closed-loop lifecycle operation covering prediction, scheduling, trading, and self-learning.

The operator’s AI platform improves market performance of battery systems

The AI platform embeds intelligence across cells, systems, and operations and enables predictive maintenance and real-time market participation, Envision earlier told the media outlet.

It improves the efficiency and execution of power trading decisions while providing a replicable and scalable model for large-scale participation of new-type energy storage in electricity markets.

China plans to boost its total installed new-type energy storage capacity, which doesn’t include pumped hydropower, to more than 180 GW by 2027.

Envision now operates 14 GWh of energy storage in Inner Mongolia

The completion of the 12.8 GWh battery cluster has increased the company’s total energy storage capacity in Inner Mongolia to over 14 GWh.

Envision says it has built a full local industrial chain in the region, from battery cell production and system integration to project delivery and intelligent operation.
