The Ministry of Energy and Mining of Montenegro and Balkan Green Energy News signed a memorandum of understanding that establishes an institutional framework to enhance cooperation in promoting the energy transition, investments, and the development of the green economy in Montenegro and the region.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by Minister of Energy and Mining Admir Šahmanović and Founder and Editor of Balkan Green Energy News and Managing Director of Belgrade Energy Forum (BEF) Branislava Jovičić.

The participation of the ministry as an institutional partner of BEF 2026, which is scheduled for May 11 and 12, will contribute to strengthening regional cooperation and enable direct communication between the ministers, regulators, and investors, within the ministerial panel and through bilateral and B2B meetings.

In addition to Minister Admir Šahmanović, the opening panel discussion will feature energy ministers from Bosnia and Herzegovina – the Federation of BiH and the Republic of Srpska – as well as North Macedonia and Serbia.

Balkan Green Energy News has already signed cooperation memorandums with the energy ministries of North Macedonia and the Republic of Srpska.

The new MoU covers cooperation with regionally recognized platforms Balkan Green Energy News and BEF, which gather key stakeholders in the energy sector, decision makers, investors, regulatory bodies, international financial institutions, and the expert community, the ministry pointed out.

The cooperation enables additional international visibility for the reforms Montenegro is implementing, particularly regarding the transposition of the European Union acquis, as well as the promotion of key investment and infrastructure projects in the energy sector, it added.

Šahmanović: BEF is one of the most relevant sources of information and meetings for key energy stakeholders

Minister Admir Šahmanović stressed that the cooperation represents an important step forward in strengthening Montenegro’s international position in the energy sector.

“In a time when accurate and timely information is crucial, especially in relations between state institutions and investors, partnership with relevant platforms gains additional significance,” he underscored.

Today, Belgrade Energy Forum is one of the most relevant sources of information, while also facilitating the fora for key stakeholders in the energy sector, in Šahmanović’s view. The cooperation between the ministry and BEF is already at a high level, he recalled.

This is an opportunity to further improve and elevate it, with the important goal of positioning Montenegro as a reliable and competitive partner in the energy transition, he explained.

Jovičić: We continue to promptly inform stakeholders in the region and the world

Branislava Jovičić thanked the Ministry of Energy and Mining, Minister Šahmanović, and his team for the trust that they placed in our media platform.

“Moving forward, Balkan Green Energy News will not only continue following the most important developments in Montenegro’s energy sector, but it will intensify coverage of the country’s transposition of EU regulations under chapter 15 of the negotiations to join the EU,” she underscored.

Jovičić added that Balkan Green Energy News keeps stakeholders in the region and the world updated, in a transparent manner, about the key emerging energy and infrastructure projects, investments, and Montenegro’s regional and international cooperation.

“We extend a warm welcome to Minister Šahmanović and his team to BEF 2026,” she stated.

Jovičić noted that the ministry has become an institutional partner of BEF, the region’s premier energy conference, which has its fourth edition this year.
