State-owned salt mine operator Rudnik soli Tuzla intends to build a wind park and solar power plant. The Tuzla-based firm is also seeking contractors for a heat pump and insulation for its headquarters.

Home of the largest coal power plant in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the country’s third-largest city has also been working on a number of pioneering energy transition initiatives. Salt miner Rudnik soli Tuzla, controlled by the Tuzla Canton, published procurement notices for a wind farm and solar power plant.

The biggest salt miner in the Western Balkans is seeking a contractor for the Tušanj photovoltaic system. Rudnik soli Tuzla’s second advertisement is for a wind power project called Tetima.

Both are turnkey engineering, procurement and construction projects, and they include accompanying infrastructure

Companies interested in the endeavors can obtain tender documentation upon request. The deadlines are October 26 and 27, respectively. Both are turnkey engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects, and they include accompanying infrastructure, according to the brief announcement.

Of note, the Tuzla Canton, owning almost three quarters of the shares of the company, is part of the Federation of BiH. It is one of the two entities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the other one is called the Republic of Srpska. Tuzla, deriving from the Turkish word for salt, is the center of the salt industry.

Earlier this year, the firm has issued a tender for project design for the Tetima wind power project. Both investments are named after its salt production facilities.

In addition, Rudnik soli Tuzla is seeking contractors for a heat pump and insulation for its headquarters.
