Austria-based RP Global has commissioned its Novalja solar power plant on the Adriatic island of Pag. The facility, with a peak capacity of 21 MW, is the company’s first photovoltaic plant in Croatia and the second largest in the country.
The Novalja project was supported by a EUR 12.2 million loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The total investment in the project was estimated at EUR 16.3 million.
Construction on the solar power plant began in April 2025. The project involved the installation of 35,776 photovoltaic panels. Its annual electricity output was estimated at about 31,000 MWh, enough to supply about 12,000 households.
In 2024, the Novalja solar project was awarded premiums for 15 MW of capacity in an auction organized by the Croatian Energy Market Operator (HROTE).
The largest solar power plant in Croatia is HEP’s 99 MW Korlat facility
The largest solar power plant in Croatia is the 99 MW Korlat facility, developed by state-owned power utility Hrvatska elektroprivreda (HEP Group). Its trial run was launched earlier this year.
The Korlat photovoltaic plant is integrated with the eponymous wind farm. Together, they are the first hybrid power plant of its kind in the country.
RP Global is working with Professio Energia on 266 MW of solar capacity in Croatia
RP Global, in collaboration with Croatian renewables developer Professio Energia, is working on a solar portfolio with a total peak capacity of up to 266 MW.
The company has a project pipeline of 815 MW in Croatia, including wind, solar, and battery energy storage systems (BESS), according to its website.
It has completed two wind projects in the country: the Danilo wind farm near Šibenik and the Rudine wind park near Dubrovnik, with a combined installed capacity of 78 MW.
The biggest photovoltaic portfolio under development in Croatia, totaling 386 MW, is owned by Israel-based Enlight Renewable Energy. In 2022, the company said it comprised four projects.
