Slovenian electricity market operator Borzen has announced a public call for subsidies for the installation of batteries.

The co-funding measure is intended for legal entities, both private and public, municipalities, and other public institutions and organisations, according to Borzen.

A total of EUR 10 million is available. Each beneficiary will be able to receive up to 45% of eligible costs, with a maximum of EUR 225 per kWh of battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity, according to the public call.

Funding is available for new BESS purchased, paid, installed, and connected between January 1 and July 31 of this year

Subsidies are available for new BESS bought, paid, installed, and connected to the grid between January 1 and July 31 of this year. The batteries must be connected to the grid before applying for the funds.

Applications can be submitted via the Borzen online application from August 4 to October 31 of this year, or until all funding is allocated.

Three groups of investments can be co-funded.

Three groups of investments can be co-funded

The first are the purchase and installation of an energy storage device and hybrid inverter that enables it to operate. Next are the associated electrical installations and equipment which, upon installation, become part of the facility or building in which the new battery is installed.

The third group of investments consists of the preparation and execution of construction, and assembly works for the installation of a BESS, the public call reads.
