Croatian power exchange CROPEX has held its first auction of guarantees of origin (GO) through the IT auction trading platform, selling 263,889 GOs, CROPEX said in a press release.

“The first guarantees of origin auction for electricity from incentivized producers (Q1/2019) was successfully held by CROPEX, selling a total of 263,889 GOs at a price of 0.31 EUR/GO,” the Croatian power exchange said.

A total of 11 participants had registered for the first guarantees of origin auction held on the CROPEX trading platform, nine of which actively participated in the auction and submitted bids for the purchase of GOs in the auction system.

The proceeds from the sale of GOs will be transferred to the incentivized system fund managed by HROTE. The guarantees of origin sold in the auction will be transferred from HROTE’s account in the guarantees of origin register to the auction participants’ user accounts.

Auction details:

In accordance with the law on renewable energy sources and high-efficiency cogeneration, HROTE, as leader of the ECO Balance Group for incentivized electricity production, started selling 30% of the energy produced on the CROPEX day-ahead and intraday markets at the beginning of 2019, the Croatian power exchange said.

This move was also enabled by changes to the law on renewable energy sources and high-efficiency cogeneration and changes to the decree on the establishment of a system of guarantees of origin.
