Sarajevo-based GTI plans to build a solar power plant with a capacity of 80 MW to 99 MW, called Dubovik, in the municipality of Krupa na Uni in the Republic of Srpska, one of the two entities making up Bosnia and Herzegovina. A public review of the draft environmental impact assessment for the project is currently underway.

The public review is open until July 15, and the document is available on the website of the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Construction, and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska, as well as at the premises of the municipal administration of Krupa na Uni, the ministry said.

A public hearing on the draft environmental impact assessment will be held on June 25 at the premises of the municipal administration, it added.

The Dubovik solar power plant will cover an area of around 116 hectares

The site of the planned plant is located about one kilometer from the center of Krupa na Uni, in the immediate vicinity of the settlement of Srednji Dubovik.

According to the technical documentation, the solar power plant will cover an area of around 116 hectares. The land plots on which the construction is planned are owned by the Republic of Srpska and the municipality of Krupa na Uni.

GTI has been granted a 50-year concession for the proposed solar power plant

GTI, or Globalna trgovina i investicije, was awarded a concession from the Government of the Republic of Srpska on January 24, 2025. The concession for the solar power plant was awarded for a period of 50 years.

According to the technical documentation, the project envisages a total of 139,360 photovoltaic panels with an individual capacity of 575 watts. The plant is designed to consist of ten separate functional units, or arrays.

According to expert estimates, a solar power plant of this size can generate between 110 and 140 GWh of electricity annually, enough to supply tens of thousands of households.
