CWP Global intends to invest EUR 613 million in a wind farm in the Province of Varna, on the coast of the Black Sea. The installed capacity of the facility could reach 592 MW.

The Dobrotich Wind project will not receive any kind of subsidies from the European Union, Bulgarian state or preferential power purchase prices, Dobrotich Wind, a local company of the Australian company CWP Global, said in a press release.

Dobrotich Wind revealed that the Varna region was selected due to the wind potential, low environmental risk, and transmission infrastructure.

Dobrotich Wind plans to secure long-term assistance to the local community

The project will comprise 74 wind turbines with up to 8 MW capacity. According to the firm, it plans to use the most advanced turbines. The wind farm will generate enough electricity to power around 440,000 homes.

Dobrotich Wind plans to provide the local community with electricity assistance of 1,200 kWh per year for 14,000 residents for 35 years from the wind farm’s commissioning date.

CWP Global said the wind power plant is planned to be online by 2027.

In Europe, CWP Global has been developing renewable energy projects in Southeast Europe and Ukraine. According to announcements, the developer’s ambition is to reach 3 GW of installed capacity in Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, and Ukraine.
