Green Energy Cooperative (Zelena Energetska Zadruga – ZEZ) has launched the On the Sunny Side campaign for making installation of rooftop photovoltaic solar easier and cheaper for citizens in Croatia.

ZEZ has invited all interested citizens to apply through the website in order to participate in the joint procurement of solar power plants and get complete assistance – from assessing the technical potential for panel installation, through project preparation and equipment procurement, to commissioning.

On the Sunny Side targets installation of 1,000 solar power plants by the beginning of 2022.

Installing solar panels costs a three-member household EUR 6,600 to EUR 9,900

According to the cooperative, an average three-member household in Croatia needs a 4 kW to 6 kW solar PV plant to secure 75% of its electricity consumption. Design, equipment, transport, commissioning and testing costs up to EUR 1,320 per kW. HEP ODS charges meter replacement EUR 265 to EUR 400. With the annual cost of maintenance and insurance, the investment is estimated at EUR 6,600 to EUR 9,900.

Croatia has more than 2,300 solar hours a year

ZEZ said applicants would be contacted within 24 hours after the request to check the conditions and cost-effectiveness of a potential solar PV system on their structure.

The cooperative added Croatia is a country of great opportunity for the use of solar energy, with more than 2,300 solar hours a year.

The On the Sunny Side campaign is part of the 1,000 Solar Roofs project supported by EIT-Climate-KIC, the largest European community of knowledge and innovation for climate. It was founded by the European Union’s European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). The project identifies the local community as a driver and leader of the energy transition.
