Excluding the output from neighboring Croatia’s share in joint nuclear power plant Krško, Slovenia exported 10.5 TWh of electricity last year, Naš stik reported, citing data from the country’s power market operator Borzen. The result was 7% weaker than in 2024.

Power imports increased 9.8% to 12.81 TWh. Slovenia remained a net electricity importer.

The negative balance in 2025 amounted to 2.31 TWh. It was a whopping 525% more than in the previous year.

According to the article, the main factor was a 14% fall in domestic electricity production. It was dominated by a drop of almost one quarter in hydropower from the level achieved in 2024, when hydrological conditions were favorable.
