The price ceilings at the upcoming renewable energy auctions in Serbia will be EUR 105 per MWh for wind power EUR 90 per MWh for solar power.

The Government of Serbia published the maximum price of electricity that participants at the first auctions for premiums for wind farms and solar power plants in Serbia can bid for. Setting the sum was one of the most important steps in the preparation for the launch of the calls for the competitive procedures.

Of note, the government also adopted new decrees on the balancing responsibility contract model and on market premiums and feed-in tariffs.

The maximum electricity prices offered for the purpose of auctions within the market premium mechanism are EUR 105 per MWh for wind power and EUR 90 per MWh for solar power projects, according to the decision.

Initially, a price of EUR 55.7 per MWh was set for wind power

The ceiling was already determined in November 2021 for participants in the planned wind farm auction, at EUR 55.7 per MWh. But there was no public call in the meantime as electricity prices were breaking records amid the energy crisis. In the region, they spiked from an average of between EUR 50 per MWh and EUR 70 per MWh to more than EUR 500 per MWh, but they subsided in recent months.

At its first auctions, Serbia plans to allocate premiums for wind farms with a capacity of an overall 400 MW and photovoltaic plants with a 50 MW in total.
