Power utility Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) intends to extend the project for solar panels on the roofs of households and companies, so it is preparing the installation of another 15,000 photovoltaic facilities.
Last July, EPCG started the projects Solari 3,000+ for households and Solari 500+ for businesses. The Montenegrin state-owned company is providing financing, equipment, and installation of panels, while citizens have the obligation to pay off the investment in monthly installments instead of electricity bills.
EPCG’s subsidiary EPCG-Solar-gradnja is currently installing panels under the two projects. Many consumers are still expressing interest in becoming prosumers, the company said and added that it decided to continue the activity, Mina agency reported. Of note, 14,500 applications were received within the Solari 3.000+ public call for households.
EPCG wants the Solari 10,000+ project to receive EU funding
The preparation of the conceptual solution and the feasibility study for Solari 5,000+ is nearly done. It is planned to secure financing, equipment, and to issue a public call for households, and firms by the end of year. Installation of solar panels is expected in the first quarter of next year.
For Solari 10,000+, the feasibility study and project and technical designs were submitted to the Government of Montenegro because EPCG’s idea is to secure financing from the European Union’s mechanisms. The works are expected to begin by the end of next year.

The installation of 15,000 photovoltaic facilities was earlier valued at EUR 110 million.
The profitability of the projects in a time of energy crisis and high electricity prices is clear. Within the Solari 3,000+ and Solari 500+, EPCG has so far installed 200 power plants on the roofs of houses, with a total power of 1 MW, and a capacity of 30 MW should be reached by the end of the year.
The market value of the annual output from the 30 MW is EUR 18 million, said EPCG.
