The Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry has earmarked EUR 98 million for businesses, households, and public buildings to improve energy efficiency.

The subsidies in the form of grants are the continuation of the program initiated in Cyprus last year.

Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry Natasa Pilides said that in 2021 the government spent EUR 130 million to restart the economy, and that in 2022 it has secured EUR 158 million for digital and energy upgrade investments.

Pilades said EUR 100 million would be allocated for businesses, compared to EUR 49 million for households, and EUR 9 million for local public offices. Out of the EUR 100 million for businesses, EUR 40 million is intended for energy upgrades, and the public call for allocation will be launched in March.

In the second half of the year, a public call worth EUR 35 million will be published for energy renovation measures

Subsidies for households will back a range of activities.

Replacement of energy-intensive home appliances in vulnerable households is one of them, and it was launched in December 2021. The ministry received over 3,150 applications, and there is EUR 5 million for grants.

During the second half of the year, a public call worth EUR 35 million will be published for energy renovation measures. The government also earmarked EUR 7.3 million for a public call in April or May for the installation of solar photovoltaic panels and roof insulation.

Two calls for applications are planned for March or April. The first, worth EUR 1,5 million, will be for PV system installations for charging stations for electric vehicles, and the other one for solar thermal collectors. It is valued at EUR 450,000.
