The Council of the Energy Agency of the Republic of Serbia (AERS) approved the agreements between the public utility Elektromreža Srbije (EMS), national transmission system operator (TSO), and its neighboring peers on the procedure and method of allocating the right to use cross-border capacities and access to cross-border transmission capacities for 2018.
TSO EMS signed agreements with Transelectrica in Romania, Macedonian electricity transmission system operators (MEPSO), MAVIR in Hungary, Electricity system operator (ESO) in Bulgaria, Independent System Operator in Bosnia and Herzegovina (NOSBIH) and Croatian Transmission System Operator (HOPS).
“By organizing joint auctions we achieve more efficient use of cross-border capacities which is in line with European regulations,” the Energy Agency of the Republic of Serbia said in a statement.
The implementation of these agreements gives wider opportunities to system users and improves the conditions for the development of the electricity market in Southeast Europe and its integration into the European market.
“The most important step towards integration into the European market was made at the border with Croatia for which the Joint Allocation Office S.A. from Luxembourg will implement the European Harmonized Allocation Rules for annual, monthly and daily auctions through a common European platform,” the AERS said.
The Council of the Energy Agency of the Republic of Serbia also approved the Rules on the allocation of cross-border transmission capacities on the borders of the EMS’ regulatory area, which will be implemented on the borders with the operators of neighboring systems with which the joint auction agreements have not been signed.
