Croatia’s power exchange, CROPEX, has been granted NEMO status by the Slovenian Energy Agency for both the day-ahead (DA) and intraday (ID) electricity markets in Slovenia.
In 2026, CROPEX will make all technical preparations to enable trading, clearing, and settlement in Slovenia, in addition to Croatia, offering existing and new members enhanced cross-border opportunities via a single power exchange membership, according to CROPEX.
This is a major milestone for CROPEX, marking over 10 years of successful operations in the Croatian day-ahead and intraday markets, the update reads.
Mikulić: The move marks the first time CROPEX will operate outside Croatia
Go-live is currently planned for Q3 or Q4 2026, coordinated under the Slovenian Multi NEMO Arrangement (MNA) project and at the EU Single Day-Ahead Coupling (SDAC)/Single Intraday Coupling (SIDC) level, the Croatian power exchange said.

CROPEX CEO Ante Mikulić pointed out that the move marks the first time the Croatian power exchange will operate outside Croatia.
This is a historic milestone for CROPEX and an important step toward stronger regional integration of electricity markets for the benefit of all market participants, who will be able to trade in multiple bidding zones through the company’s infrastructure, he explained.
CROPEX obtained all regulatory approvals in November
“As CEO, I’m especially proud to see this vision become reality. From the early strategic idea to implementation, I have been deeply involved in driving this initiative, and it represents a significant professional milestone for me personally as it confirms CROPEX’s capabilities and the work behind it,” Mikulić stressed.
He recalled that in November 2025, CROPEX obtained all regulatory approvals and has since been actively working on implementing procedures and planning go-live dates, targeted for late 2026.
It will depend on when the Slovenian Multi NEMO arrangement is ready, as well as on SDAC, and SIDC testing, Mikulić added.
He is convinced that CROPEX is ready to take on a broader regional role in developing efficient and transparent power markets.
