This month marked the completion of the installation of the first LEITWIND LTW42 250 kW turbine in Razdrto, a village situated on the southern slopes of the Nanos plateau in the municipality of Postojna, Slovenia. This turbine, the third one installed in the entire state, overlooks the crucial A1 motorway junction that connects Ljubljana to the Slovenian coast.

LEITWIND, Italy’s sole manufacturer of megawatt-class (250 – 3,000 kW) systems, is a part of the HTI Group, which specializes in winter technology (cable cars, snow groomers, and snowmaking systems). Thanks to the HTI Group’s diversified expertise and fully shared production philosophy and technological heritage, high standards of quality and reliability are maintained in every sector and recognized throughout the world.

LEITWIND was founded in 2003 and due to synergies generated by the in-house development of the direct drive system, Leitner entered the wind turbine sector under the LEITWIND brand name.

LEITWIND has more than 400 wind turbines installed worldwide

Today, with over 20 years of experience in the construction and installation of patented wind turbines with direct drive and permanent magnet synchronous generators, LEITWIND has more than 400 wind turbines installed worldwide (200 of which have an active service and maintenance contract).

The company’s strategy is to differentiate itself from large manufacturers by focusing on customized projects specifically designed for small-scale wind farms and self-consumption projects of communities and small/medium-sized enterprises with the aim of reducing the cost of energy consumption.

LTW42 – the smallest wind turbine in the LEITWIND portfolio

One model that particularly embodies the company’s philosophy is the LTW42, the smallest wind turbine in the LEITWIND portfolio. This turbine was developed specifically to protect the environment, aiming at the decentralized production of low-cost renewable energy and its direct consumption at the place where it is produced.

It also differs from other conventional wind turbines because, thanks to its overall height of less than 50 meters, it has a low visual impact and a simplified authorization procedure.

The customer, Zelene Vetrnice d.o.o, has commented on the installation of this wind turbine: “When we were looking for a partner, we found LEITWIND. Of all the suppliers we came into contact with, LEITWIND stood out due to the best ratio between performance and contractual conditions. We can already say that the wind turbine is what we expected, and we are already looking forward to the next project together”.

Slovenia has a great resource potential to install more wind turbines and make its energy mix much greener, and LEITWIND, with its megawatt-class product range, is proud to contribute to the fight against climate change with this first turbine, which will avoid the emission of more than 500,000 kg of CO2 into the atmosphere every year.
