Das Progressive Zentrum, a Berlin-based think tank, has invited young activists committed to climate and environmental protection to apply for the Youth Climate Fellowship Program. The organization said the call is for beneficiaries from Central and Eastern Europe as well as the Western Balkans and that it would contribute to the global conversation on climate change.

The goal of the fellowship is to empower 25 young activists in their commitment by offering training, workshops, and access to an expert network in preparation for the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28), Das Progressive Zentrum said.

During the seven-month program, the online platform covering climate action will offer a variety of need-based training and workshops as well as exchange and networking opportunities, the announcement tadds. It includes virtual work, three educational travel trips and a climate policy study trip in Europe.

The deadline for applications is April 30

The aim is to enhance the next generation’s skills and capacity to tackle climate change effectively, the think tank said.

The seven-month fellowship is compensated with EUR 1,350 while all costs for travel and accommodation will be covered.

The deadline for applications is April 30, according to the call, which includes detailed eligibility criteria and a preliminary timeline.

Das Progressive Zentrum said it especially encourages applications from persons belonging to groups or minorities that are structurally discriminated against. In case of identical qualifications, applicants from such groups or minorities will be favored, it explained.

The project Climate Connection by Das Progressive Zentrum is funded by the German Foreign Office.
