GIZ to organize training course for solar panel installers in Serbia

GIZ and Energy Net launched a call for applications for a free course for solar panel installers to be held in Kać in Serbia’s Vojvodina province from March 23 to 25.

Solar panel installer is a profession of the future in Europe and the world. The demand is picking up in Serbia as well, considering that rooftop solar power plants are becoming popular. The country got its first prosumers at the end of April of last year. More than a thousand rooftop photovoltaic units with more than 30,000 solar panels have been installed in the meantime.

The number of trainees at the School Center of the Energy Net Academy in Kać is limited and every candidate needs to file an application, Germany’s GIZ agency for international cooperation said, adding that priority would be given to people with relevant work experience and education in the field of electrical engineering.

Participation in the course is free including educational materials and food and refreshments while accommodation and transportation are secured for the participants who are not from Novi Sad or the surrounding area.

Applications will be received until 4 PM on March 21 or until the available slots are filled, GIZ said.

This will be the third free training course under the German-Serbian development cooperation project ‘Promotion of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency in Serbia’, implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit – GIZ in partnership with Serbia’s Ministry of Mining and Energy.

So far, training was held for 20 teachers in secondary schools for future renewable energy technicians, and for 18 people that learned about the installation of photovoltaic systems.

Barmeier: The goal is to make it easier for citizens to become prosumers

Till Barmeier, director of the ‘Promotion of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency in Serbia’ project, said the effects of fossil fuels use are clear. “We are seeing a rise in temperatures and droughts, air pollution, and we are seeing an increase in energy prices,” he pointed out.

According to Barmeier, everything comes down to the use of fuel, while with the help of renewables and energy efficiency measures, the dependence on fossil fuels can be reduced.

Therefore, as part of the Serbian-German climate partnership, GIZ is implementing the German cooperation program to help Serbia utilize its renewables potential.

The aim of the project, Barmayer stressed, is to make it easier for citizens to become prosumers, to give them access to all relevant information, and to make the whole process more accessible and safer.

A good example is the education and training that is currently being carried out for solar panel installers, which will help citizens to produce electricity for self-consumption in a safe and reliable way, Barmeier said.

Energy Net was founded more than 30 years ago

Energy Net is a family firm operating for more than 30 years. It creates and implements comprehensive solutions for energy efficiency, including for heating, cooling and ventilation, and landscaping.

The business currently employs more than 200 people, cooperates with around 1,000 partners and has several subsidiary companies, among which is the Energy Net Academy.

The company’s administrative building in Novi Sad is a unique example of an energy-efficient business facility equipped in compliance with LEED and WELL certificates and smart solutions, GIZ added.
