After Serbia got its first prosumer in May, the number surged to more than 850 households and firms. However, many homeowners and entrepreneurs interested in producing electricity for own consumption still wonder if investing in solar power panels is actually profitable and how to determine the right capacity. What kind of paperwork is involved and how to secure funding?

To clarify all the relevant information for potential prosumers, Balkan Green Energy News is launching its solar podcast called ‘Everything you wanted to know about solar panels, but didn’t have anyone to ask’. We will host Serbian prosumers themselves including Miloš Lončar, who was the first to obtain the status.

Installers and equipment distributors, financial advisers and representatives of state-owned utilities that are responsible for permitting will explain the procedure and point out all possible challenges.

The solar podcast will consist of four sessions. Balkan Green Energy News is organizing it with support from the project Promotion of Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Efficiency in Serbia, implemented by Germany’s development agency GIZ in cooperation with the Ministry of Mining and Energy.

“Nowadays every household can start producing electricity, but citizens often have dilemmas and they need help. Thanks to the cooperation with the GIZ project, the Balkan Green Energy News is starting a podcast series and it will try to offer the answers, together with the leading experts in solar in Serbia, to the most frequently asked questions on solar panels, power plants and the prosumer concept,” the media outlet’s Editor Branislava Jovičić pointed out.

The host of the podcast is ESG Advisory Services Manager Danko Kalkan from EY

Questions can be emailed to solarnipodkast@balkangreenenergynews.com or written as a comment below this article or at the Facebook event announcement. The podcasts will be livestreamed on the Balkan Green Energy News Facebook and Youtube channels.

Our guests will sit down with Danko Kalkan from the Ernst and Young consultancy. He is an advisory services manager for the ESG (environmental, social and governance) segment.

Danko Kalkan says the podcast would highlight the significance of decentralizing clean energy production, from which society as a whole would get substantial benefits

As Danko put it, the interest in the possibilities for utilizing solar energy has significantly grown in parallel with the knowledge on the topic, but the podcast will shine more light on the details and help Serbian citizens to seamlessly make their ideas about installing their own solar power plants a reality.

The first podcast is scheduled for February 28

“In addition, the podcast series will highlight the significance of decentralizing clean energy production, from which society as a whole would get economic, environmental and health benefits,” Danko pointed out and invited you to tune in.

The podcast’s first episode will be streamed on February 28 from 18:30 to 20:00, featuring:

  • Miloš Lončar, Serbia’s first prosumer
  • Miodrag Vuković, Director of Conseko
  • Aleksandar Popović, Manager of GIZ’s project ‘Promotion of Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Efficiency in Serbia’
  • Danko Kalkan, ESG Advisory Services Manager at EY.
