Yet another wind project set to be developed in Tomislavgrad

Тhe government of Canton 10 in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) has adopted a decision to seek a concessionaire for yet another wind project in the municipality of Tomislavgrad, a 90 MW wind farm called Orlokuk.

The decision by the cantonal government comes just weeks after the launch of a procedure for awarding a concession for the Ljubuša wind project, also in the municipality of Tomislavgrad. The power plant’s planned capacity is 80 MW.

The move follows the recent announcement of the 80 MW Ljubuša wind project

In October, a firm called Concordia received a 30-year concession for its 29.9 MW Galečić wind farm project in Tomislavgrad. Other wind projects in the pipeline in the same area include Pakline 1 and 2, of 48 MW each.

According to earlier announcements, the 72.6 MW Tušnica wind farm is planned to go online by the end of 2023. The value of the project has been estimated at EUR 100 million. The Tomislavgrad municipality also has locations for two other wind power plants – Srđani and Mokronoge.

In late 2021, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for a wind farm called Ivovik, with 42 turbines, a total installed capacity of 84 MW, and a projected annual output of 236.6 GWh. The wind farm is located in the municipalities of Tomislavgrad and Livno.

Tomislavgrad, which has clearly established itself as a wind power hub, is also home to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s first two wind farms, Mesihovina and Jelovača. Mesihovina, which has a capacity of 50.6 MW, was put in operation in 2018, and Jelovača, whose capacity is 36 MW, received its operating permit the following year.
