The third edition of Green Building Expo will take place from November 2 to 4 at Belexpocentar hall in Belgrade. An exhibition is organized with the international exhibition and conference on sustainable buildings. Participants will discuss design, construction, rating systems and more. The event evolved from Serbia Green Building Expo.

The new edition intents, organizers say, to move the spotlight not only to the regional construction market but to parts of Europe which are interested and attentive to all the most innovative trends, sustainability and energy efficiency technologies. Next event’s motto is ‘Let’s roll for sustainability’, describing a mandatory synergic approach.

When we talk about green buildings, we are talking about improving the quality of life, about the future development, ours and our children’s and about wellbeing, which finally meet without colliding with the opportunities for business and growth of our companies.

“We have gathered, around a proposal for business that is useful, ethical and positive also for the community, a large group of leading companies, institutions and visionary leaders, who have recognized the need to be suggestive and proactive on the market… When we talk about green buildings, we are talking about improving the quality of life, about the future development, ours and our children’s and about wellbeing, which finally meet without colliding with the opportunities for business and growth of our companies,” the invitation said.

The United States Green Building Council (USGBC), the main sponsor, said it is committed to a prosperous and sustainable future through cost-efficient, healthy, and energy-saving green buildings through Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), the world’s premier green building rating system. It is present in 160 countries and territories. Every day, more than 158,000 square metres of commercial and residential building space earns the grade through Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), an independent certification and credentialing body.

How may the selection of products affect the health and wellbeing of building occupants and those in the supply chain? Expert for green products Nadav Malin will take the audience through the maze of categorization of products and materials on the environment and on human health, and help them implement the approach. He will cover new requirements in the application of the material to green buildings, new calculation methods in the categorization of materials and the quality of stay, as well as compare SPD declarations and LEED.

Malin will present useful databases and other sources of information on products including SPD, HPD, greenscreen assessment and certification by third parties. The headline speaker was the one who led the team that created the national base building with exceptional characteristics (High Performance Buildings Database) for the U. S. Department of Energy.

Green Building Expo will focus on beauty as inherent to sustainability, the form and image and environmental imperative to aesthetics. Health and wellbeing, ethics, resilience as well as efficiency are stressed as essential for the concept of sustainability, according to organizers of the event.
