The Municipality of Žagubica is making preparations for the first wind farm on its territory. The Gornjak facility is planned for an installed capacity of 200 megawatts (MW).

The Municipality of Žagubica has decided to initiate the development of a detailed regulation plan for the Gornjak wind farm at the initiative of Windflow East.

At the end of August, Windflow East asked the municipality to provide a planning basis for the preparation of technical documentation and obtaining a building permit for the construction of the Gornjak wind farm.

It is the second announcement of a wind farm project in eastern Serbia

Of note, at the end of 2019 Crni Vrh power announced it would invest in a 50 MW wind farm on the border of three municipalities: Bor, Žagubica, and Majdanpek. A year later information appeared that the capacity of the power plant would be increased.

The total area envisaged for the development of the detailed regulation plan for the Gornjak wind farm is about 300 hectares.

The plan is to install 35 wind turbines

According to a preliminary analysis, it is possible to install about 35 wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 200 MW, according to the decision to produce the detailed regulation plan.

For the purposes of drafting it, a strategic environmental impact assessment study will be prepared.

The deadline for the production of the plan is 12 months.
