A 25 MW solar power plant project is underway near Posušje in the southwest of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The local authority valued it at EUR 16.6 million in a public call for a concession.
The Government of the West Herzegovina Canton issued a public call for awarding a 30-year concession for the construction and operation of a photovoltaic plant in Čitluk in the municipality of Posušje. The document envisages a grid-connected capacity of 25 MW.
The Starka location, 3.4 kilometers from Posušje, near Bosnia and Herzegovina’s border with Croatia, spans 28.4 hectares. The land is registered as a low-grade forest. The estimated value of the investment is EUR 16.6 million.
The canton’s government said the facility should be connected to the transmission network of 110 kV. The investor will be obligated to clear property rights and get necessary permits before taking posession of the land.

The bid must be accompanied by an equivalent banking guarantee, valid for 60 days. The one-off concession fee has to be worth at least 1% of the estimated value of the investment. The chosen company will pay at least 2% of its annual gross revenue from electricity as a concession fee.
The Government of the West Herzegovina Canton gave a hint in September that it would award the concession to limited liability company Astera from Posušje. The Independent System Operator in Bosnia and Herzegovina (NOS BiH) has its 25 MW project on the list of applications for connecting to the network.
The opening of the bids is scheduled for December 10 in Posušje. State-owned power utility Elektroprivreda HZ HB is working on its Poklečani wind power plant project in the same municipality. The company is currently looking for a contractor to deliver the design for the facility.
