The Croatian electricity market started bimonthly auctions. CROPEX divided the sales of guarantees of origin for electricity from wind power plants into two categories and added biomass units.

The Croatian Power Exchange has said all 296,348 guarantees of origin were sold at the latest auctions, in which biomass power plants were introduced. It was also the first bimonthly sale as a surge in the volumes prompted the operators of the market better known as CROPEX to organize them more frequently.

The round was for January and February. The auctions were held quarterly before. In the biomass segment, for units registered since April 1, 2015, 69,227 guarantees were sold and the marginal price came in at EUR 1.11. The benchmark compares to the lowest level of EUR 0.5 and the maximum price of EUR 1.49 apiece. There were two winning bidders out of four participants in total.

The guarantees of origin for wind power plants have been divided into those for the facilities commissioned from April 1, 2015, and older ones.

A total of 102,029 guarantees were sold in the first of the two categories of privileged, incentivized producers. The price was EUR 1.01 each and the range was EUR 0.5 to EUR 1.19. There were four participants as well and two bidders also won.

On the auction for tracking instruments from the wind power plants with commissioning dates between December 2009 and April 1, 2015, a total of 125,092 guarantees of origin were sold. The marginal price landed at EUR 0.2, equaling the minimum. The highest bid was EUR 0.5. Both participants had winning bids.

The three auctions were held in parallel.

CROPEX, equally owned by Croatian Energy Market Operator – HROTE and Croatian Transmission System Operator or HOPS, separately said the day ahead and intraday markets and auction systems are functioning normally regardless of the coronavirus outbreak. All necessary measures are in place to protect employees, in line with the new rules, the statement adds.
