For half a century, the International HVAC&R Congress and Exhibition has been organized by the Serbian HVAC&R Society, which operates within the Union of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers and Technicians of Serbia (SMEITS). The 50th event in a row will be held in Belgrade, Serbia, on December 4-6 at the Sava Center.

The program of the congress covers challenges with buildings in the conditions of pollution caused by the use of conventional sources of energy. Included are environmental protection, natural disasters and extreme weather, but also impacts of human activity on human life and health, migrations towards large cities and living conditions in them. Organizers say more than 130 companies from around the world will exhibit at the venue.

One of the most interesting sessions of the first day will be about renewable energy sources utilization for global warming mitigation, environmental protection and sustainable development. It will showcase the know-how from the Mediterranean region, Croatia, Romania, Slovenia and Serbia.

The second day will kick off with a discussion on improving energy efficiency in new refrigeration technologies that are appropriate for the preservation of climate conditions and the ozone layer. It is sponsored by Serbia’s Ministry of Environmental Protection and the UN Environment OzonAction as part of Serbia’s HCFC phase-out management plan.

The congress includes two-day regional conference Renewable Energy in District Heating and Cooling Systems

The two-day regional conference Renewable Energy Sources in District Heating and Cooling Systems, organized by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Federal Ministry of Finance of Austria in partnership with the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), will start on December 5.

Friday, the last day, includes a gathering about integrating renewable sources in energy refurbishment of large multipurpose structures with the aim to drive carbon dioxide emissions to zero.

Organizers say that this year’s program has attracted associations with close connections with leading professional and scientific institutions for heating, cooling, air conditioning and environmental protection, such as UNEP, IRENA, EBRD, ASHRAE, REHVA, IIR, AVOK and IBPS.
