Slovenian energy Petrol has signed a memorandum with T Plus Group, Russia’s largest privately-owned heat and power company, to take part in projects to optimize district heating in the regions where T Plus is present, marking the Slovenian company’s entry to the Russian market, according to a press release on Petrol’s website.

Petrol brings to the table its know-how, experience and solutions in the development and deployment of highly-efficient, energy-efficient technologies to improve the efficiency of heat supply systems. This is in line with the interests of the T Plus, which is committed to implementing a large-scale energy-efficiency program in the country, reads the press release.

The first joint project between Petrol and the Russian partner will be to optimize the production and consumption of heat in the district heating system in the city of Izhevsk, Petrol said in the press release.

The cooperation between Petrol and T Plus was agreed during a visit to Russia by a Slovenian business delegation led by Prime Minister Marjan Šarec.

Petrol, Schneider Electric Russia to optimize district heating in Yekaterinburg

As part of its cooperation with T Plus, Petrol has agreed to work with Schneider Electric (SE) Russia on a project aimed at optimizing and increasing the operational efficiency of the district heating system in Yekaterinburg, one of the cities where T Plus operates.

Petrol will act as a contractor on deploying specialized software, developing and implementing information support to an automated control system for heat supply, as well as managing the systems in question in the fourth largest Russian city, reads the press release.

As part of the project, Petrol will implement a solution for an overhaul and the optimal management of Yekaterinburg’s district heating system – the optimization of heat distribution by predicting heat load and optimizing the network temperature.

According to the press release, Petrol’s activities in Russia will also include the optimization of drinking water production and distribution.

In February this year, Petrol, the City of Ljubljana, and Resalta won a European Energy Service Award (EESA) in the Best Energy Service Project category.
