Matjaž Marovt, acting director of Slovenian state power company, Holding Slovenske elektrane (HSE), has been appointed HSE director general for a four-year term, the company announced.

The HSE Supervisory Board appointed Marovt as director general on August 1. Marovt joined HSE as a member of the Supervisory Board last spring, and has served as acting director since April 19.

He has set as one of his goals to ensure that the company, as the largest electricity producer in Slovenia and one of the leading electricity traders, responds to current trends in energy, environment and technologies.

“On the road to a zero-carbon society, our common goal will be to ensure safe, reliable and environmentally-friendly supply of electricity,” he said in a press release.

Marovt has a university degree in electrical engineering, and a master’s degree in quality management from the Sheffield Business School. He has worked as an independent business consultant.

He has gained experience working in several leading companies in the Slovenian and European markets.  Marovt has served as a director of Adria Mobil technical division, and  a member of the management board of Prevent Global, and has occupied for many years senior management positions in Gorenje, leading Slovenian manufacturer of large home appliances.
