President of the Center for Promotion of Sustainable Development (CPOR) and Cofounder of the WISE Serbia women’s network Branislava Jovičić handed the Female Leader in Sustainable Energy award in the building of the Government of Serbia to Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović.
“It is a great honor and pleasure to receive the Female Leader in Sustainable Energy award, which is given for extraordinary results and dedication in the process of the energy transition and the democratization and decentralization of the energy sector in Serbia,” Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović said today.
The Female Leader of Energy Transition awards were introduced this year. The winners were declared at the Women of Serbia in Sustainable Energy – Leadership for the Energy Transition conference.
The first winners were selected by a committee, while from next year public nominations and a public vote will be organized
The award was established by Belgrade-based Center for Promotion of Sustainable Development, which founded the WISE Serbia women’s network five years ago, and Germany’s international cooperation agency GIZ – Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit. The award winners were selected by an internal committee, while from next year public nominations and a public vote will be organized.
“It is my great pleasure to have handed this award today to Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović, who is also a member of the WISE Serbia women’s network. By declaring Minister Đedović Handanović one of the three female sustainable energy leaders for 2023, the WISE Serbia network of women in sustainable energy, climate action and environmental protection acknowledges the contribution to the acceleration of the energy transition process through the creation of a regulatory framework that promotes investments in renewable energy sources. The success of the first auctions in Serbia, which were recently held, are a concrete result of these efforts,” President of CPOR and Cofounder of the WISE Serbia women’s network Branislava Jovičić said.
Serbian women see an active role in the energy transition for themselves
At the conference last week, the results of a survey on the Role of Women in the Household and Women in Business in Energy Transition – Initiatives Worth Supporting were also presented. It was conducted by CPOR in partnership with GIZ. Serbian women see an active role in the energy transition for themselves, but they seek and expect financial and institutional support for a greater, more concrete and more sensible participation.
