ABB Power Grids Zagreb, a subsidiary of Hitachi ABB Power Grids, and Kosovo’s* transmission system operator KOSTT have signed a EUR 4.7 million contract on the construction of a new, 110/35/10 (20) kV substation Ferizaj 3.

The contract between ABB Power Grids Zagreb and TSO KOSTT was signed by KOSTT CEO Mustafe Hasani and Nina Dusper Sušić, director of the Balkan Cluster Hitachi ABB Power Grids.

Hitachi ABB Power Grids, a joint venture established by Hitachi Ltd. and ABB Ltd., operates in the region under the Balkan Cluster that covers seven countries – Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo*, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia.

“We are very honored to continue the fruitful cooperation with KOSTT and participate in ensuring grid stability and the Ferizaj municipality’s development. Our goal is to modernize grids and implement innovative solutions for energy transformation and digitalization,” said Nina Dusper Sušić.

According to KOSTT, the implementation of the project is expected to be completed within 24 months.

This capital investment envisages the construction of a new substation in the municipality of Ferizaj, and the installation of a 40 MVA power transformer in this substation.

The project will have a significant impact on increasing the security and quality of electricity supply

The implementation of the project will have a significant impact on increasing the security and quality of electricity supply for the territory of the municipality of Ferizaj, but it will also provide conditions for the further economic development of the municipality and the surrounding area, KOSTT said.

KOSTT CEO Mustafe Hasani said that the company is committed to providing quality services to all consumers through long-term development planning and adequate investments in order to contribute to the development of the energy sector in Kosovo as a key pillar of economic and social development in the country.

* This designation is without prejudice to positions on status and is in line with UNSCR 1244/99 and the ICJ Opinion on the Kosovo declaration of independence.
