Bulgarian National Electricity company (NEK) has invited sealed tenders from contractors from all over the world for the rehabilitation of pumped-storage hydro power plant Chaira, located in the Rila mountains, some 100 km from Sofia.

The call for tender, published at the NEK website, says that subject of the tender are all activities and components of the engineering service, including design, manufacture, delivery, dismantling, repair-restoration, installation, designer supervision, adjustment, testing and commissioning of the turbine equipment, turbine governor, plant control and monitoring system, relay protections, unit excitation system, etc.

NEK has received grant funds for this tender from Kozloduy International Decommissioning Support Fund (KIDSF), administered by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD or the Bank)

Tendering for the contract is open to firms from all countries.

Pre-tender meeting and site visit will take place on 5 February 2018.

A two stage tender procedure will be adopted: the first one will consist of a technical proposal only and must be delivered before 23 April 2018, and the second will consist of an updated technical tender incorporating all changes required by NEK.
