WISE Serbia, the network of women in sustainable energy, has announced a call for new members under the slogan #BeWise, encouraging all interested women – professionals and students alike – to apply and join in. The call is open until August 15. Current and new members will meet for a conference in Belgrade, planned for the second half of September.

More and more women worldwide are getting professionally involved in sustainable energy, climate action, and the green economy. This trend has not bypassed Serbia as it strives to implement the energy transition and the Green Agenda and decarbonize its energy sector and economy as a whole.

WISE Serbia network of women was founded as early as 2018 as one of the first such networks in Europe. Today, the network gathers 150 women, promoting active participation, representation, and a more vital role of women in energy and related sectors.

The call for new members is part of a new phase of the project, implemented by the Center for Promotion of Sustainable Development (CPOR) in partnership with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the Ministry of Mining and Energy of the Republic of Serbia.

“The next stage of the WISE Serbia project comes at a time when Serbia is stepping up work on the energy transition and low-carbon development. Riding on the wave of enthusiasm and the success achieved in 2018 when the WISE Serbia network was established, but also the professional achievements of our members, today we are expanding the circle of women who wish to pool their work, ambition and results and contribute to our country’s efforts in a transition towards cleaner energy sources, energy security and stability,” said Branislava Jovičić, the initiator of the WISE Serbia network.

Who can apply to become part of WISE Serbia?

Women who are professionally engaged in energy, climate action, the green economy, or environmental protection, regardless of their title or current position, are welcome to join the network.

If you are a woman engineer, a project manager, if you work at an energy company or a company in some other sector, but your work is dedicated to energy, environmental or ESG topics, a law office, consultancy, educational institution, state or local self-government institution, the non-governmental sector, or the media, you are welcome to fill out the form and introduce yourself.

The size, number of employees, or financial power of your organisation are irrelevant.

Students are also welcome to apply and join the WISE Serbia network

To support future women leaders, WISE Serbia’s invitation for new members is also open to students from relevant faculties and young women in post-graduate studies.
