Monitoring and Verification Platform (MVP), being developed under the GIZ Open Regional Fund for South-East Europe – Energy Efficiency (ORF-EE) project, was present to professionals working on energy audits and energy certification of buildings as a part of the training organized at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Sarajevo.

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Sarajevo, on February 10-11, hosted a Training for Engineers – professionals working on energy audits and energy certification of buildings in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) (Module 3).

Training participants were informed about the latest developments in the field of energy efficiency in BiH. Among other topics, the focus was also placed on amendments to the rulebooks in the Federation of BiH (FBiH), which define the process of energy auditing and certification of buildings, as well as on the presentation of results from the current statistics research in the building design and construction sectors. It was particularly noted that the Energy Community holds, both energy efficiency and energy statistics, as equally important topics.

During the opening day of the Training, participants were introduced to the Monitoring and Verification Platform (MVP) online application, developed under the GIZ Open Regional Fund for South-East Europe – Energy Efficiency (ORF-EE) project. Participants were introduced to the basic concept of the application designed for South-East European countries as a platform for data collection on energy efficiency projects and achieved energy savings.

Džana Kadrić, one of the participants from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Sarajevo acknowledged that “the MVP application operates on a powerful software tool and the application is simple and easy to understand.” She further stated “I believe that the application of MVP in BiH will reach its full effect and provide overview of the achieved savings in energy and CO2 emissions, as well as funds invested in the realization of energy efficiency improvement measures.”

Using experience of other countries in the region and beyond and based on the support from the bilateral GIZ project in BiH “Energy Efficiency Advice”, as well as the experience of local experts, the ORF-EE adapted the MVP to the needs of BiH and is currently in the testing phase. The aim for 2017 is to transfer the application to servers of the FBiH Environmental Fund and the Environmental and Energy Efficiency Fund of the Republika Srpska. In parallel trainings on MVP administration are planned for all those responsible for the administration of the tool on cantonal and municipal level.
