The Ivovik wind farm, the fourth and largest in Bosnia and Herzegovina, has started trial operation.

The owners of VE Ivovik, which operates the  84 MW wind farm, are Ivovik Wind Power from Luxembourg and CNTIC Capital from China. Ivovik Wind Power took over the project firm in September 2022.

It bought it from Sinohydro Holding, a subsidiary of PowerChina Resources. PowerChina Resources is part of the Power Construction Corp. of China (PowerChina).

The news about the start of the trial operation of the Ivovik wind farm comes from a meeting between the Prime Minister of Canton 10 Ivan Vukadin and representatives of VE Ivovik.

Despite various challenges, the project entered its final phase

VE Ivovik’s Chief Operating Officer Wang Zhiqiang, head of legal and commercial affairs Cao Qi, and lawyer Kemal Švrakić discussed with him the preparations to switch to regular mode.

Despite various challenges, including difficult terrain and rising prices of materials, the project has entered the final phase and will soon begin to make a significant contribution to the supply of renewable energy in the country, the Government of Canton 10 said.

After receiving the operational permit, the first turbines began to produce electricity.

The trial is a crucial step in the preparations for the official start of electricity production, according to the cantonal authority.

Three of the four wind farms built in BiH are located in Canton 10

The Ivovik wind farm consists of 20 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 4.2 MW.

“We welcome every investment in Canton 10, especially when it represents one of the largest projects in BiH in the renewable energy sector,” Vukadin stressed.

Mesihovina, the first wind farm in BiH, was inaugurated in 2018. The second one, Jelovača, was put into operation in 2019. Podveležje, completed in 2021, is the only one outside of Canton 10.

Until Ivovik was commissioned, the largest wind power plant in BiH was Mesihovina, 50,6 MW.
