European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW), the largest annual event focused on renewable energy sources and efficient energy use in Europe, will take place from June 10 to 12 in Brussels, with online streaming available. The theme of the 19th edition of the sustainability-focused event is Powering a Fair and Competitive Green Transition.

EUSEW2025 is being held during the European Commission’s second mandate under President Ursula von der Leyen. The conference will focus on the key energy priorities of the European Union’s top executive body.

Speaking about the event, EU Commissioner for Energy and Housing Dan Jørgensen emphasized that energy policy is at the core of almost all the today’s challenges. According to him, it is critical for Europe’s competitiveness, security, and job creation, as well as for accelerating the green transition and combating climate change.

“For this, we need to step up investments, in particular in clean energy and technologies, which will be a key factor in bringing down energy prices and fully ending Russian fossil fuel imports, while engaging on a just transition path. This is vital for our businesses, facing competition from outside the EU, and for households, facing problems with the cost of living,” said Jørgensen.

He announced that within the first 100 days in office, the commission would introduce the Clean Industrial Deal, along with an action plan for affordable energy.

Key events at EUSEW

EUSEW2025 features a variety of events, including a high-level conference, the European Sustainable Energy Awards ceremony, Energy Fair, sixth European Youth Energy Day, and Sustainable Energy Days.

This year’s high-level conference will focus on the Clean Industrial Deal and the role of EU energy policy in fostering a clean, competitive, and fair transition.

The European Commission has invited industry representatives, experts, academics, and civil society organizations to submit session proposals. The call for proposals is open until January 23.

Prior to the start of the conference, the EUSEW Awards ceremony will be held, recognizing outstanding projects and individuals in three categories: Innovation, Local Energy Action, and Woman in Energy. Applications are open until January 30.

One of the key segments of the conference is the European Youth Energy Day. Participants aged 18 to 34 will be able to share their visions and ideas for transforming Europe into the first climate-neutral continent. The Energy Fair also offers an additional networking opportunity.

Those unable to attend events in Brussels can register their own in-person or online event as part of the Sustainable Energy Days. Information on how to participate will be published in January and February.
