Bulgarian renewable energy company Vineli Re plans to build a wind and solar park, combined with electricity storage, local media reported, citing an investment proposal submitted for an environmental impact assessment. The proposed facility would be installed near Dobrich in the northeastern part of the country.
Vineli Re, based in Plovdiv, plans to install two wind generators for electricity production, with a capacity of 8 MW each, which would be connected to a new 110 kV substation. The planned photovoltaic plant on the same property would have an installed capacity of up to 120 MWp, according to local media reports.
The wind turbines will be able to rotate to face wind direction
Vineli intends to use modern wind generators equipped with technology that allows them rotate in the direction of the wind, ensuring the optimal blade angle and the position for intercepting the wind flow. The minimum noise level will be the main criterion when choosing the brand and model of the generators to be procured.
The implementation of the project is in keeping with the company’s plans to invest in the production and storage of electricity from renewable energy sources, according to the investment proposal cited by the local media.
Bulgaria’s first hybrid renewables project launched in 2023
In September 2023, Eurowind Energy and Renalfa IPP launched construction on the solar segment of what should be Bulgaria’s first hybrid power plant, consisting of a solar and wind power plant, along with a battery storage system. The photovoltaic segment of the complex, called Tenevo Solar, is planned at 238 MW in peak capacity, and its completion is targeted for early 2025.
Earlier this year, Bulgaria invited applications for subsidies for installing battery storage systems within renewable energy plants, offering a total of EUR 273 million within two calls. The deadline to apply for the state subsidies is June 12 this year.
