Porsche Slovenia has entered into a strategic partnership with smart grid and storage management solutions company NGEN. The move marks the car retailer and e-mobility service provider’s entry into the electricity market.

In the era of accelerated electrification of vehicles, Porsche Slovenija goes a step further with its MOON brand. In addition to electric vehicles (EVs), its e-portfolio comprises chargers for EVs, solar power plants, batteries, and the optiMOON management system. The company also plans to become an electricity supplier.

Porsche Slovenia chose Slovenia-based company NGEN as its partner in the business’s next development phase. NGEN is one of the leaders in Southeastern Europe in innovative solutions for electricity storage, flexibility services, and smart grid management.

Danilo Ferjančič, Porsche’s general manager, said that through this model, Porsche Slovenia will create an energy community of electricity producers and consumers, and the company will become an electricity trader.

The idea of an energy community – coMOONity – was created

He stressed that the MOON brand was launched four and a half years ago to answer all the customers’ questions about EV charging, electricity production for self-consumption and energy management. Electricity supply was the missing part.

“Looking for a solution, we came up with the idea of an energy community – coMOONity, where smart management is used within the cloud platform to regulate surpluses and energy deficits at a specific moment,” Ferjančič explained.

Porsche said user tariffs would be affordable, and customers would have constant access to production and consumption data. They will be entitled to part of the income from flexibility services.

Users will always be able to use their electricity at each of the e-chargers within the MOON network

According to the firm, the best of all is that users would always be able to use their electricity at all e-chargers within the MOON network.

Porsche Slovenija selected NGEN as a partner because of its rich experience in flexibility and electricity trade, Ferjančič said.

On the occasion of the cooperation announcement, NGEN CEO Roman Bernard pointed out that the partnership would give the company an important role in the electrification process, adding it is just the beginning.

NGEN has found a common ground with Porsche Slovenija, which is successfully pushing the boundaries of e-mobility, energy self-sufficiency and energy management, and has the same vision as NGEN – to provide customers across Europe with access to easily understandable and affordable solutions for a better society in the future, Bernard stressed.
