The cantonal government in Tuzla said it will start the preparation and implementation of an action plan to increase energy efficiency in the residential sector.  The document was presented at the meeting between prime minister Bego Gutić and minister of physical planning and environment protection Hasan Fehratović with representatives from company Enova d.o.o. from Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to the statement on the government’s website, collected data identified the current status and gives precise guidelines for the implementation of projects and measures for energy efficiency and use of renewable energy at the level of municipalities and Tuzla Canton, which will directly result in a reduction of total energy consumption in the residential sector.

The region now has a detailed study with an overview of the current situation, where each of the 973 collective residential buildings with four or more dwellings knows its “personal energy map”, and the necessary investments for its refurbishment, said Samir Bajrović, head of Enova, adding that implementation will result in consumption savings of 50%.

Implementation of all measures identified in the action plan requires significant financial resources: BAM 92 million (EUR 47 million), but the possession of such a document will give the canton significant benefits for specific activities, including applications to international funds, the statement said.
