State-owned power utility Elektroprivreda Crne Gore has approved the launch of Solari 5,000+, the next chapter after the Solari 3,000+ and Solari 500+ programs. It will offer the installation of another 5,000 rooftop solar power plants to households, legal entities and residential communities.
Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG), controlled by the Government of Montenegro, recently revealed plans to install 15,000 more rooftop solar power plants, and the first phase is the launch of the Solari 5,000+ project.
The Solari 3,000+ and Solari 500+ projects have sparked a huge response as more than 14,000 consumers have applied for the installation of photovoltaic systems on their roofs.
The public call will be open for residential communities
In order to meet the demand, a public call for the Solari 5,000+ scheme will be announced in mid-December, EPCG said and explained that it would be open for households, legal entities, and residential communities – in residential buildings of up to four floors.
The Solari 5,000+ program will enable the addition of 70 MW in total solar power capacity, valued at EUR 70 million. Consumers who meet the conditions from the public call are eligible for a subsidy of 20% of the investment.
The photovoltaic systems will be installed on a first come, first served basis
With the Solari programs, EPCG provides solar panels and other equipment for PV facilities and installs them for consumers that it selects from the public call. They repay the investment in the form of a loan over a period of five to seven years.
When customers pay off the debt, their bill should become much lower than it was before the installation of the solar panels.
EPCG said it would install photovoltaic systems in the order of the valid applications it receives and approves.
