The project of energy efficiency by using cogeneration from biomass is worth about EUR 150 million to be invested in 40 municipalities, said Gordan Milinić, head of Foreign Investment Promotion Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Speaking about the presentation of the project held in Sarajevo, he stressed it will create new jobs and improve the economic situation in the country. Milinić added there is great interest in the local communities for cogeneration project because all of them, as planned in the business plan, should earn EUR 1 million per year and employ 25 new workers, portal Capital.ba reported.

The director of company Alfa invest from Sarajevo Zdravko Aćimović said many Italian companies are ready to invest in BiH. According to him, there are many passive municipalities in BiH that are in need of energy efficiency and the achievement of certain financial income, through manufacturing and electricity and heat at the same time.

Mayor of Bratunac Nedeljko Mlađenović said this project is perfect for many municipalities in BiH, but also for Bratunac because this municipality already had the idea to use renewable energy sources for electricity generation or heating. Municipality created conditions, made all the parliament’s decision, the necessary documentation is done, and there is a factory – the Czech investor that produces chips – the raw material for the production of electricity and heat, he stressed.
