Based on the requirements of governmental institutions in BiH, Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has approved the technical support in the field of renewable energy through the establishment of a new project of technical assistance.

Project ’Promotion of Renewable Energy Sources in BiH’ will be implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), Operator za OIEiEK said.

Technical assistance will be provided to partners in the field of general improvement of the framework conditions for all producers of heat and electricity from renewable sources, with emphasis on the use of green energy and improvement of technology for hydropower plants of up to 10 MW.

The concept defines five areas – strategic framework, legal and regulatory framework, administrative procedures and incentive schemes, innovative technology, capacity building and the development of specific tools. The project will be conceived through four areas of intervention with the aim of creating and strengthening of framework preconditions to increase the use of renewable energy sources, the statement said. They are the general framework conditions for renewable energy sector, the development of the renewables sector and innovative technologies, improvement of the use of small hydropower plants, incentive schemes and modes of financing for renewable energy projects based on the local community.
