Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has announced significant investments in energy infrastructure. As he pointed out, for the necessary reforms in the energy sector in the coming period, Serbia will need up to EUR 33 billion euros in investments.

“We will have to change our habits and implement reforms, work in another way. We must do it as soon as possible, or we will face a real disaster. It is about EUR 16-17 billion to EUR 32-33 billion that we have to invest in energy infrastructure,” said President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić.

He announced such necessity for the investments at The Norway – Western Balkans Business Conference: Investment Opportunities in the Western Balkans organized by the Nordic Business Alliance.

At the conference, the leaders of the Western Balkan countries announced the formation of a regional market in the energy sector.

“This is an opportunity for foreign investors, but also for all of us to increase the level of our GDP, to increase the growth rate, but at the same time, it will be difficult to maintain fiscal stability and to keep public finances under control in these difficult times. We have to act together, we have to work together,” Vučić noted on an official Instagram account.

The president of Serbia pointed out that renewable energy sources, electricity grids, and interconnections are the most important part of reforms.
