The City of Niš has started the development of the Energy Transition Roadmap until 2050 including strategies for decarbonization. The local team in charge of the project is seeking an experienced consultant to support the work. The deadline to submit offers is October 4.

The City of Niš has published a public call for the selection of a consultant that would create a roadmap for the energy transition until 2050, facilitate citizen participation and prepare and implement the communications plan.

The document should be aligned with the European Commission’s Energy Union initiative and the principles of the Covenant of Mayors

The creation of the roadmap is part of the Tomorrow project, which is implemented in partnership with the Energy Cities association and financed by the European Union within the Horizon 2020 program.

The roadmap should offer a strategic perspective of the energy transition. It should be in line with Energy Union initiative of the European Commission’s and principles of the Covenant of Mayors initiative, bearing in mind that the City of Niš is one of the signatories.

The roadmap should outline the city’s desired state and detailed scenarios for reaching the goal

When creating the roadmap, the selected bidder must take into account the EU’s legislative framework and energy policy.

The roadmap should clarify the roles of different stakeholders during the energy transition, and contain, among other things, the anticipated state of the city by 2050 and detailed scenarios for reaching that goal.

The final document will be adopted by the local authority’s competent body and it should be integrated into the other strategic documents of Serbia’s third-largest city.

Project Tomorrow

The goal of the Tomorrow project is to empower local authorities to lead the transition to low-emission cities that are more resistant to climate change and more pleasant to live in. The municipal governments engage citizens and stakeholders in the development of energy transition roadmaps for the period until 2050.

The project is implemented by the Energy Cities association. The scientific partner institution in the project is the Dutch Research Institute for Transition – DRIFT, and the remaining partners are the cities of Brest (France), Dublin (Ireland), Brașov (Romania), Valencia (Spain), Mouscron (Belgium). and Niš (Serbia).

The total value of the project is EUR 1.5 million, of which Niš accounts for EUR 80,000.
