Serbian Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection has opened a call for awarding incentives to recycling companies and plastic bags manufacturers, which will be paid from the budget for the next year.

Minister Snežana Bogosavljević Bošković said that in the last two years the recycling industry received approximately EUR 32.6 million. Those who use waste as secondary raw material or for energy are eligible to apply, as are manufacturers of reusable bags thicker than 20 microns, according to the statement. The competition is open until January 31.

For the use of waste tires as a secondary raw material, the programme provides companies with RSD 18,390 (EUR 150) per tonne, and EUR 30 per tonne for the treatment of waste tires for energy. The state plans to pay EUR 81 per tonne for the reuse and recycling of waste oil as secondary raw material, while for the use of waste oil for energy production, companies will receive EUR 40 per tonne, except for waste edible oil. For the reuse and recycling of waste starters, batteries, industrial batteries and accumulators the state plans to pay EUR 118 per tonne, while for the use and recycling of portable batteries or starters the incentive is EUR 1,186 per tonne. For the reuse and recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment as a secondary raw material incentives will be from EUR 106 to EUR 880 per tonne. Bag manufacturers will receive EUR 49 per tonne, and for those that contain biodegradable additives the incentive will be EUR 69 per tonne.
