The district heating plant in Pirot in southeastern Serbia signed a contract with the country’s Ministry of Mining and Energy for installing a Scada system, local media reported. Supervisory control and data acquisition is a computer process of gathering and analyzing real time data.

The heating season passed without any bigger problems thanks to a lot of new equipment, pipelines and numerous investments implemented, the plant’s chief Radovan Nikolić said. The Scada system is scheduled to be installed in the summer and it will enable remote tracking of the operation of substations.

Nikolić added the project would significantly increase the efficiency and the speed of interventions to prevent possible issues. He stressed the auditors from programme KfW 4 of the German KfW Development Bank awarded the heating facility with a high grade, portal Pirotske vesti said.
