Residents and visitors to Sarajevo can now rent electric scooters with the BeeBee app. There are 72 vehicles available.

Throughout the world, e-scooters are seen as one of the ways to reduce traffic jams and air pollution. Time will tell if this can help Sarajevo, which is one of the cities with the most polluted air. The sale of e-scooters in the region is experiencing a boom, while the start of a renting service is announced also for Belgrade in 2020.

E-scooters will be distributed throughout the city, without special stations

E-scooters in Sarajevo will be distributed throughout the city, without any special locations where they can be picked up and returned after use.electric scooters Sarajevo beebee

By using the application, downloaded from the Google Play platform, users can find the nearest e-scooter, activate the ride by scanning the QR code, drive to a certain destination and leave it in a place where it will not bother anyone, according to the representatives of service provider BeeBee.

A minute of use is charged EUR 0.14, and the start is EUR 0.69

The app, which shows the locations of e-scooters on the map, should be available for both Android and iOS systems.

One minute of using an e-scooter will be charged EUR 0.15, but the promotional price is EUR 0.14 until the end of the year. In addition, the price to unlock the e-scooter is EUR 0.69.

They can’t be sold as scrap metal

According to Klix.ba, scooters have a sophisticated GPRS system so invalid unlocking is registered, and they can also be locked remotely.

Electric scooters as a means of transport are not regulated in BiH

Scooters are made of materials that cannot be sold as scrap metal, and it is not possible to remove the battery and use the software, so if someone tries to do something like this it will only destroy it, the portal reported.

Electric scooters are not regulated in BiH as a means of transport, but the Sarajevo Canton’s Ministry of Transport has requested the problem to be solved.

The new means of transport fits into the smart city and “green city” platforms developed by the City of Sarajevo

Dino Hajrić, director of BeeBee, said the team of young people wanted to improve the quality of life and traffic, as well as to try to reduce harmful emissions, Anadolu Agency reported.

The transport solution fully fits into the smart city and green city platforms currently developed by the city authorities, Mayor Abdulah Skaka said.
