Slovenian telecommunications company Telemach has officially commissioned a 242 kW rooftop photovoltaic (PV) plant constructed by Slovenian electricity supplier and trader GEN-I.

The solar PV plant comprises 866 PV BISOL polycrystalline modules installed on 3,000 square meters at Telemach office building’s roof. Annual production is estimated at 254.1 MWh.

The rooftop solar unit will reduce the amount of CO2 emissions by 125 tonnes per year and save EUR 17,600 annually

Telemach will save in two strategic areas: financial and environmental. The rooftop solar unit will reduce the amount of CO2 emissions by 125 tonnes per year and save EUR 17,600 annually by lowering electricity bills, according to the company’s website.

The Telemach office building will be 20% energy self-sufficient for the next 30 years

The Telemach office building will be 20% energy self-sufficient for the next 30 years, and by generating electricity, it will also meet the charging needs for its electric vehicles used by the technical service for visits to customers.

With the installation of the solar panels, Telemach said it aims to boost the circular economy, to strengthen its environmentally friendly and carbon-free operations, and to encourage other stakeholders.

GEN-I offers its service GEN-I Sonce (Sun) which allows customers to take control of their energy supply costs by investing in a micro solar power plant on a turnkey basis. The offer was launched in 2016.

In April of last year, the engineering firm installed the first B2B solar power plant in Slovenia, set up by GEN-I and Razvojni Center eNeM Novi Materiali (RCeNeM).

GEN-I also joined forces with Croatian telecommunications provider Hrvatski Telekom. The two entities signed an agreement in November 2019 on long-term cooperation in the field of e-mobility. GEN-I has also been active in the promotion of the consortium for the acceleration of the green transformation of the Slovenian energy sector.
