Croatia’s Rimac Automobili and Slovenia’s Lastinski Inženjering have agreed to establish Hyper E-Car Lab, an electric vehicle testing center in Novo Mesto, Slovenia.
The unit will be used by the Croatian technology and electric sports car company to test its own batteries and drivetrains. According to media reports, other companies will be able to use the services of the laboratory. The two companies will get EUR 3.4 million aid from Slovenia’s Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, media reported.

The owner of Rimac Automobili, Mate Rimac, said he has accepted the offer of the partner company to expand its own testing facilities to a location in Slovenia.
He added that testing drivetrains and batteries is a new area of development, attracting a lot of interest from automakers. Rimac Automobili has its own testing center in Croatia, which is currently being upgraded to increase its capacity.
According to media reports, the owner of Slovenia’s Lastinski Inženjering is Sam Omerzel, Slovenia’s former minister of infrastructure, energy, transport, and spatial planning.

The idea of the Hyper E-car Lab project is to develop a high-tech facility for testing batteries, powertrains, and electronics for high-performance electric cars with batteries, or for hypercars. The center is also planned to enable storage, processing, and analysis of the data obtained by testing with Big Data Ready software.
The intention is to respond to the needs of the most advanced companies in the automotive sector through technology that enables the testing of batteries and high-capacity powertrains, according to the Lastinski Inženjering website.
The project a partnership between the two companies, the European Regional Development Fund and the Slovenian Ministry of Economic Development and Technology.
In September, automotive giant Porsche has increased its share in Rimac Automobili to 15.5% from 10%, which it acquired in June of last year.
